One of our first residential projects, this duplex apartment is located in South Mumbai's upscale Walkeshwar neighbourhood. Spread over a combined 3,500 square feet on the thirteenth and fourteenth levels of a residential building, it offers panoramic views of the ocean, hovering over the Queen’s Necklace to one side and the ancient Bandganga temple reservoir on the other.

With a configuration of one apartment per floor, we were able to design the landing lobby as an extension of the house. On Level 13 is an entertainment area, holding a large formal living room, dining room and family room, as well as a guest bedroom and a large kitchen. A sculpted spiral staircase takes one upstairs to four large bedrooms on Level 14.

We employed a neutral palette throughout the residence, with single-tone marble across both floors. Natural materials -- lots of wood and stone -- accentuate the interiors. The master bedroom is accented in dark teakwood, and another in grey smoked veneer, with a large walk-in wardrobe and bathroom overlooking the sea. The other two are primarily all-white.

As the owners are avid art collectors, the home was designed keeping in mind its placement; the walls have been painted and treated to bring out its best qualities.
